The Anita Blake Community

Laurell K. Hamilton is now a New York Times bestselling author, known best for her Anita Blake series. It's no surprise considering she is working on the 21st book in the series as we speak and the novels cover everything from vampires, shapeshifters, and other mythical creatures to police investigations and zombie raisings. What is surprising is the fact that this entire universe started with one short story. That one story about a necromancer has become a multi-faceted series about a vampire-hunting, necromancing, lycanthorpe carrying succubus, to say the least. That one short story is now not only an extensive series of novels but has also made another genre switch and entered the realm of graphic novels.

The knowledge community that makes up Laurell K. Hamilton's fans understand all the nuances of Anita's ever expanding abilities and numerous relationships. We keep track of  each new lover and where he fits in to her love polygon... triangle doesn't even begin to cover it. Aside from her physical relationships there are also her metaphysical connections to keep up with. She is Jean-Claude's human servant and part of a two different triumverates but also the Nimir-ra to Micah's Nimir-raj (essentially the leopard king and queen).

As you can see from that brief run-down there is a lot going on in the world of Anita Blake and despite being an avid, slightly obsessed, fan of Anita Blake even I don't know everything. That's where my community comes into play. It is especially awesome in today's society where technology allows such diverse interaction, as a member of multiple forums and blogs because "the sum total of information held individually by the members of the group can be accessed in response to a specific question."
