Revision

I was really happy that we were able to do a newspaper article. I really enjoyed this project and it allowed me to expand out of my comfort zone and explore in different genres. Having my key word as “Revision” really allowed me to explore a topic that I am not very good at. It allowed me to expand my knowledge and understand what the key word revision really means. I started by googling different definitions of the word. From editing a paper to editin

g a book, the key word I found most common was the word editing. I quickly gathered from the research from literacy experts, that revision is very commonly forgotten about, misused or misinterpreted. I wanted to allow my audience, the freshman class in college, to really understand the meaning of revision and understand the significance and importance that this could have to your composition. It could really make a substantial different to a composition you have made.

I think that I targeted my audience well. I think that I used the correct language, being it not too complicated, and really tried to emphasize the parts that might appeal to the freshman class, for example tips on how to revise. I think that I used a good range of pictures and font colors to attract the reader to the subject, and it was very clear what my article was about. I decided to use sub headings throughout the article, so that if the audience reading didn’t want to read a certain part, the

y could skip over it and onto something they knew they were more interested in.

I think that I could have used a better newspaper template that had more bold colors and more attention grabbing colors. My newspaper article turned out not so bright and attention grabbing, it more blended into the background of the paper with only the writing standing out. Although I liked the pictures I used, I feel like maybe I could have used a few more. I would have liked a small comic strip that would have described the frustrating revision process, however could not for the life of

me find one. In essence, however, I think that my newspaper article would definitely have attracted the correct audience. I think that the layout will grab the attention from readers and the subject and key word I was given, will attract people as they can now understand and realize the importance of a subject that to me before, was only a word that I didn’t really understand, know what to do, and really didn’t leave any time to do it.
